A Gregg Mitchley Foundation initiative

About the initiative
COUNT ME IN is a long-term initiative focused on prevention, accountability, respect and community participation. It is built on a simple belief: lasting change begins long before a problem becomes a crisis.
The initiative aims to move beyond awareness and social-media commentary into practical, sustainable action. It seeks to strengthen relationships, encourage accountability and engage communities before destructive behaviour becomes entrenched.
Focused on what happens before harm occurs.
Encouraging responsibility without blame.
Built with people, not for them.
Everyone has a role to play.
Our approach
We begin by listening to parents, educators, professionals and communities to understand the challenges they face.
We use stakeholder input and professional expertise to develop evidence-informed approaches.
We aim to turn what we learn into practical prevention programmes through schools and community partnerships.
Your voice matters
Whether you're a parent, teacher, school principal, coach, social worker, psychologist, counsellor, community leader or concerned South African, your experience matters.
Tell us what you're seeing. Tell us where the gaps are. Help us understand what families and young people need.
Have your say
Share your experience through our stakeholder survey. It takes only a few minutes.

Get InvolvedSchools first
Schools have been identified as the preferred initial delivery channel — places where children, parents, educators, coaches and established communities meet.
Schools and communities
The proposed approach includes engaging parents, educators, fathers, positive father figures and community stakeholders. Together, these groups can shape an environment where respect and accountability are the norm.
The programme aims to develop practical prevention initiatives informed by research and professional input. A pilot programme with selected schools is being explored for 2027.
Our values
We treat every person with dignity, listening before we speak.
We encourage responsibility for our choices and their impact.
We work on what happens before harm, not only after it.
We build with people, drawing on local strengths.
We welcome all backgrounds and perspectives.

Meaningful change begins when ordinary people choose to participate. Join the conversation and help shape a stronger future for our communities.
